How to select a hydraulic cylinder?

11 Feb.,2025

Considering the impedance loss of the seal ring and the supporting impedance loss of the cylinder with the piston, the actual force of the cylinder is 94%-95% of the rated value. When the cylinder needs to work strictly and continuously, it is recommended to choose a cylinder whose tonnage is higher than the load itself, usually calculated by 70%-80% of the cylinder.

1. Selection of force

2. Selection of stroke

If the space is large enough, choose a cylinder whose stroke is longer than the practical need to improve the expandable capacity of the system.

3. Selection of type

There are basically two types of cylinders: single-acting cylinders(spring returning or load returning) and double-acting cylinders. What purpose do you need cylinders to achieve? To pull or lift or both? The single-acting cylinders can just lift, but double-acting cylinders can both lift and pull.

4. Selection of quantity

Do you need several cylinders to work synchronously or not?
