Why Does "Milky Water" Occur Even After Using a Water Purifier?

The "milky water" phenomenon refers to the appearance of white, cloudy water during filtration, which resembles milk. This occurs when the antiscalant dissolves too quickly, leading to the presence of white suspended particles in the water.

The "milky water" phenomenon refers to the appearance of white, cloudy water during filtration, which resembles milk. This occurs when the antiscalant dissolves too quickly, leading to the presence of white suspended particles in the water. The primary causes of this issue include:

Why Does "Milky Water" Occur Even After Using a Water Purifier?

  1. Rapid Dissolution of the Antiscalant:
Some large or irregularly shaped antiscalants dissolve too quickly in the water flow, resulting in an immediate spike in phosphate or other dissolved components, which then form visible suspended particles.

  2. Oversized Antiscalant Balls:
When the antiscalant balls are too large, they tend to dissolve unevenly. Certain parts dissolve too rapidly, releasing excess antiscalant into the water and causing the milky appearance.

  3. Inadequate Filter Design:
Poorly designed filters can exacerbate this problem. If the filter cartridge is unable to regulate the dissolution rate of the antiscalant properly, the concentration of antiscalant in the water may suddenly increase, leading to the formation of "milky water."

Our company(Kaidefei) has been in the water treatment industry for over 30 years, giving us extensive knowledge of water treatment products and materials. Based on this experience, we have developed the innovative Kaidefei slow-release antiscalant balls, which address many of the issues present in traditional antiscalant products currently available on the market.

Issues with Existing Antiscalants

  1. Diversity in Antiscalant Products:
Globally, antiscalant products come in various sizes and qualities. In Europe, most antiscalants are in granular form, while in China, they are typically 20mm spherical balls. These larger balls dissolve too quickly, often causing "milky water," which can block filters and pipes. In the Americas, irregular-shaped antiscalant balls are common. Many of these dissolve too fast, making them unsuitable for water filter cartridges. The inconsistency in size and shape leads to uneven dissolution, where smaller balls dissolve completely while larger ones remain, resulting in a loss of antiscaling effectiveness over time.

  2. Challenges with Antiscalant Ball Size:
Most spherical antiscalants in the market today are around 20mm in diameter, with some in the Americas being a mix of smaller 3-6mm balls. These smaller balls face limitations due to the capacity constraints of water filter cartridges. The antiscaling effect of these balls depends on their surface area. The larger the surface area, the more effectively they can release the required amount of antiscalant for optimal performance. If the balls are too large or the filter cartridge is too small, it becomes difficult to fit enough antiscalant into the cartridge. This reduces the surface area and, in turn, the effectiveness of the antiscalant.

Kaidefei's Innovative Solution

To overcome these challenges, our company has developed a 1mm uniform spherical antiscalant ball. These small balls have several key advantages:

  • Uniform and Polished Shape: The even surface ensures consistent dissolution.
  • Large Surface Area: The small size results in a larger surface area, allowing for effective and controlled release of antiscalant.
  • Slow and Even Dissolution: The slow dissolution ensures long-lasting performance without causing "milky water" or clogging.
  • Extended Lifespan: These balls last longer, even in small amounts, providing maximum antiscaling efficiency.

Wide Range of Applications

Kaidefei’s 1mm slow-release antiscalant balls are versatile and can be used in various water filtration products, including:

  • Faucet-mounted water filters
  • Water filter pitchers
  • Smart toilet antiscaling cartridges
  • Electric water heater antiscaling filters
  •

By offering superior performance in a small, efficient form, Kaidefei slow-release antiscalant balls represent a significant innovation in the water treatment industry, ensuring optimal antiscaling while addressing the shortcomings of existing products.
